The Finnish government’s proposed reduction of nearly €8 million in national film funding has sparked an important discussion about the future of Finland’s cultural and creative industries.

After several years of extensive dialogue and adjustments, Nordisk Film Cinemas is now ready to submit its final proposal for the future Palads cinema. The project is now awaiting political consideration.

Nordisk Games has sold the computer games studio Flashbulb Games, behind games such as Trailmakers, back to its original founders: Ole Teglbjærg, Mikkel Thorsted, Lasse Outzen and Rune Dittmer.

Starting next year, Disney+ becomes the exclusive first home of local theatrical releases in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland from Nordisk Film. The first films to land on the service in the fall of 2026 include KLASSEFESTEN 4.

"A great honor", says Kristofer Hivju about his role as police investigator Ole Vik in the upcoming TV 2 Norway crime series SOGN MURDERS. The series is based on Jørgen Jæger’s successful books, and filming started this week in Sogn.

The agreement will be crucial for increasing film and series production in Denmark in the future. The parties have listened to the needs of a struggling film industry, says Egmont-owned Nordisk Film.

Silje Nikoline Glimsdal has been appointed Head of Nordic Acquisitions at Nordisk Film Distribution with effect from 1 August 2025. She joins from a position as Senior Acquisition Manager at SF Studios.
