Egmont delivered strong earnings once again in 2025, thanks to content success, stronger subscriber platforms and business improvements.
2025 was a strong year for Egmont. TV 2 reported growth in revenue from advertising, subscriptions and streaming. Nordisk Film saw an increase in cinema guests and released numerous successful movies and games. Story House Egmont’s magazine and agency businesses performed well, and e-commerce companies increased both revenue and earnings. The Norwegian and Danish publishing houses released many acclaimed new books.
Operating profit (EBIT) increased to a very satisfactory EUR 140m from EUR 102m in 2024. Operating profit before interest and amortisation (EBITDA) came to EUR 312m.
Egmont’s revenue was on a par with 2024 once adjusted for divestments, including Nordisk Film’s successful sale of GoGift. This was achieved despite upheaval in the global games industry leading to the cancellation of games projects at Nordisk Film, and despite TV 2 being hit by protracted negotiations with a distributor.
“I’m delighted with our performance in 2025,” says Egmont’s CEO Steffen Kragh. “Strong Nordic media content, expanded subscriber platforms and an unwavering focus on efficiency through the use of technology are enabling us to thrive despite challenging market conditions and global competition. 2025 brought many successful media productions and improvements in our businesses, for which I would like to thank all of our employees.”
A successful year across Nordisk Film
Nordisk Film’s revenue fell from EUR 653m in 2024 to EUR 556m in 2025 as a result of the sale of GoGift and a more volatile market for film and games, leading to a decrease in externally financed games.
However, the sale of GoGift also contributed to a stronger operating profit – up from EUR 42m in 2024 to EUR 52m – as did improved performance in Nordisk Film’s cinemas. It was also a good year for film production and distribution, with an Oscar nomination and a total of 61 local and international premieres. Finally, 2025 was a record-setting year for hunting game THEHUNTER: CALL OF THE WILD from Avalanche Studios Group.
"I am very proud of our annual results and of the employees who have made it possible despite difficult market conditions within film and games," says Nordisk Film’s CEO Allan Mathson Hansen. “2025 was an especially successful year for our cinemas, and it is very satisfying that our investments in the cinema experience of the future are yielding results. At the same time, I am thrilled with the performance by several of our Nordic film titles that have truly managed to gather audiences in cinemas in 2025.”
