Eva Jakobsen is one of Denmark’s most accomplished producers in the arthouse and auteur space – with a rare ability to develop artistically ambitious projects that resonate far beyond Danish borders. Since co-founding Snowglobe in 2015, and most recently through her own production company Mater Pictures, she has consistently championed stories with artistic ambition and cultural weight.

“We are thrilled that Eva Jakobsen has joined Nordisk Film Production, and we very much look forward to realizing her exciting slate including new projects helmed by acclaimed directors such as Jeanette Nordahl, Birgitte Stærmose and Pernille Fischer Christensen. These projects reflect the distinctive, director-driven filmmaking Eva Jakobsen is known for, and are a perfect match for our ambition on bringing world class storytelling to life,” says Katrine Vogelsang, CEO of Nordisk Film Production.

Notably, Eva Jakobsen has an exceptional track record in international co-production. Films such as Joachim Triers Oscar nominated THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD (2021) and award winner Ralitza Petrova’s bold and daring first and second features GODLESS (2016) and LUST (2026) are testament to the artistic range of projects and the relationships she has built with leading arthouse partners across Europe, as well as her ability to bring ambitious, festival-bound projects to life.

“Joining Nordisk Film Production is a significant step for me. After many years of working independently, I am excited to become part of a company with such a remarkable history, a strong creative and production environment, and powerful distribution capabilities. I’m looking forward to this next chapter contributing to Nordisk Film Production’s artistic ambitions and international vision,” says Eva Jakobsen.

Upcoming projects

Eva Jakobsen’s most recent film is the critically acclaimed Berlinale contender BEGINNINGS, directed by Jeanette Nordahl, which recently won Biografklub Danmark's esteemed Astaprisen. Her first project at Nordisk Film Production marks a continuation of that collaboration.

Inspired by the 1859 Danish prison reform and the establishment of Vridsløselille State Prison, the psychological drama follows an idealistic warden who becomes blinded by his vision of making the world a better place. The film, which carries the working title DE USYNLIGE (the invisible), explores how evil can emerge even from good intentions, and how basic human decency can ultimately be what sets us free.

"It will be the third feature film Jeanette Nordahl and I make together, as well as a continuation of our collaboration with writers Rasmus Birch and Ingeborg Topsøe. This time, we are tackling the prison film genre, drawing on an untold chapter of Danish history. It's a major, artistically ambitious project on a production scale we haven't worked at before, yet still grounded in Jeanette's character-driven approach and human perspective. It is going to be an incredibly intriguing journey, and one that I am very excited about," says Eva Jakobsen.
